FAQS

Do I need an instrument at home when I take lessons?

Yes. Practicing at home is an important part of your music education. Without an instrument at home to practice on the student will lose interest and there will be no progress from one lesson to the next.

How long are the lessons?

Lessons are ½ hour per week.

Are there recitals throughout the year?

Yes. We have a Christmas recital in December and a Spring recital in May/June. Also, we occasionally go to retirement homes on Sunday afternoons for mini recitals.

Do I have to take part in recital?

We encourage our students to take part in recitals, however, it is not a requirement.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, there is a $10.00 registration fee which must be paid to confirm your lesson time slot.

Do I have to bring my guitar to my lesson?

Yes, all guitar students should bring their guitar, however, you do not need to bring your own amp.

Do you have a family rate?

Yes, if you have three or more sets of lessons at our studio then you will receive a 10% discount on the third and more lessons

Do you offer summer lessons?

Yes, summer lessons are offered on Wednesdays. You may sign up for the whole summer or for whatever weeks work for you. We are flexible with our summer schedule.

How long does it take to learn an instrument?

If a student practices regularly it will take just a couple of months to be able to play at a basic level. For example, students who start piano lessons in September will be able to play a simple Christmas piece by December.

Can I sit in on my child's lesson?

Yes, we welcome parents to sit in on lessons. However, keep in mind that sometimes a child feels more comfortable without a parent in their lesson and teachers can sometimes build a better rapport with students if the lesson is strictly a one-on-one basis.

Will I get feedback from my child's teacher?

Yes, our teachers are very willing to discuss a child's progress with the parent. It's best to take 5 minutes at the beginning or end of your child's lesson to speak with the teacher as their schedules are full and we don't want to tkae time away from another students lesson.

Can we start lessons at any time of the year?

Yes. We will prorate your tuition to the week you start within our semester.

How old do you have to be take lessons?

We generally start lessons with a child when they are five years old. However, exceptions are made. Sometimes we start a child on piano if they are four years old depending on their maturity. Also,  a child may have to wait until they are 6 or 7 years old to take guitar lessons because of their physical size and whether they are able to hold a guitar properly.

Can I take lessons as an adult?

Yes! It doesn't matter how old the adult is when they start. We will teach at a pace that is right for the individual adult. Learning an instrument as an adult can help improve the mind and memory.
